NOTES ABOUT THE RIPE ATLAS PROBE ARCHIVE These files contain daily dumps of the RIPE Atlas probe information. They are published this way so that interested parties can get bulk access to deployment and probe status information, without having to turn to the probe APIs. The files are created and dated for each day once the day is over (around 2am UTC). Notable changes to the file format or contents over time: * 2014-03-13: First dump published * 2014-06-13: Added country code values * 2014-08-20: Added probe tags * 2016-06-29: Added first_connected field to each probe * 2016-07-11: Adjusted an overzealous filter that prevented some probes from appearing in the archive. This filter was active between March-July 2016 so there's a jump in the muber of entries on this date. * 2016-07-21: Added "total_uptime" field to each probe (representing the total number of seconds the probe was up ever since it was first connected) as well as a "probe" field linking to the v2 probe API for the current probe status. Note that we'll soon remove the "resource_uri" field as it's been misleading and not working well ever since it first appeared. * 2016-07-27: The publication process published wrong format of the files between 2017-07-21 and 2016-07-27. This has been fixed and the affected files have been re-published with the correct format. * 2016-08-08: The "total_uptime" field was incorrectly too low for many probes from 2016-07-21 to 2016-08-07. As of 2016-08-08 "total_uptime" correctly contains the full probe uptime at the time of the dump. * 2016-08-17: Added the field "snapshot_datetime" to the "meta" object. This field holds a UNIX timestamp (in seconds) representing the time the snapshot of the statuses of the probes was taken. * 2016-08-17: Added the field "source_filename" representing the original filename of the dump. * 2016-08-17: Added the field "status" to a probe object. It holds an integer describing the status code used by the API. * 2016-08-17: Removed the field "resource_uri". * 2022-09-28: The archive no longer contains entries about "never connected" probes as these are not operationally useful.
