3.1 Alternative Dial plans
A user very seldom dial an E.164 number on his phone
- Inside Cisco, people dial 58509 to me
- Outside Cisco, from Sweden, people must dial 0014085258509
Not all numbers are E.164 numbers we use
- 800-numbers are in the E.164 series, but not E.164 numbers because they are not globally resolvable
- 911, 411 etc are special services numbers which often mean different things depending on who makes the call
Dialing plan information can be resolved by the use of same technology as ENUM
