The minutes of the October 21 Teleconference were approved. Steve to place in public archives. 2. The IESG deferred action on TN3270E Service Location and Session Balancing until the SVRLOC WG can review. Additionally, the document needs to include references for the various security mechanisms mentioned. 3. The IESG has approved publication of the following as Proposed Standards: The COPS (Common Open Policy Service) Protocol COPS usage for RSVP RSVP Extensions for Policy Control Signaled Preemption Priority Policy Element Identity Representation for RSVP In the same action, the IESG approved publication of A Framework for Policy-based Admission Control as an Informational RFC. Steve to send announcement. 4. The IESG tentatively approved publication of the Internet-Draft A DNS RR for specifying the location of services (DNS SRV) as a Proposed Standard. Thomas wanted to double check for normative references. Thomas to let Steve know if/when to send announcement. 5. The IESG approved publication of Terminology for ATM Benchmarking as an Informational RFC. Steve to send announcement. 6. The IESG approved publication of Ongoing TCP Research Related to Satellites as an Informational RFC. Steve to send announcement. 7. The IESG had no problem with the publication of A Framework for IP based Virtual Private Networks as an Informational RFC, as long as an IESG note stating that this document is not the product of an IETF Working Group, and that there currently is no IETF activity in this area is attached. Steve to convey to RFC Editor. 8. Patrik to provide an explanation to accompany the IESG's DO NOT Publish recommendation for Plain Text/Source Code File Header . Once received, Steve to convey to RFC Editor. 9. The IESG consensus was to publish IP Authentication using Keyed SHA1 with Data Padding as an Informational RFC. Marcus to convey to the author. Once done, Steve to notify the RFC Editor. 10. Marcus and Jeff to speak with the authors of DES Applicability Statement for Historic Status and convey changes and inaccuracies that need correction before the document will be approved for publication as an RFC. 11. Keith to provide text for an IESG Note to accompany HTTP Extension Framework when published as an Experimental RFC. Once received, Steve to notify RFC Editor. 12. The IESG deferred action on Dynamic Hostname Exchange Mechanism for IS-IS pending an explanation as to why no derrivitive works are permitted to the document. The initial thought was that this document would be submitted to the ITU, but this needs to be confirmed. 13. Steve was directed to send out WG Review messages for the following Proposed Working Groups: Resource Capabilities Discovers (rescap) Internet Message Access Protocol Extension (imapext) DNS Extensions (dnsext) IP Security Policy (ipsp) 14. Steve spoke briefly on the subject of old Internet-Drafts (expired and previous versions) avaiable to the public (either web or ftp accessible). After some discussion, the idea was approved, though it was suggested that explanatory text (this document expired and is provided for historical reference only) be pre-pended to each document. Steve responded that if the script was written, it would run, but no one should harbor any thoughts of manually editing the historic archives :-) It was also suggested that the idea be run by the IETF lawyer to insure there was no danger in proceeding down that path. Steve to send note to Scott requesting such a review. 15. Thomas brought up the topic of area-specific Web pages. Steve said he'd be happy to delegate zones out to the areas (already done for OPS and APPs). Thomas asked if the Secretariat could maintain the web pages. Steve replied that if immediate turn-around is not a requirement, this could be done.
